Caracas, Jun 2 (Prensa Latina) With almost 4.5 million people registered
so far, the registration process of candidates for the future United
Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) is expected to conclude throughout
the country this weekend.
According to the most recent official data, after five weekends, the
figure of those interested in joining the proposed political
organization by Venezuela President Hugo Chavez has now reached 4,402,645.
The states with larger applications so far are Zulia, Miranda, Lara and
Carabobo, as well as the Capital District, according to reports from the
PSUV National Promoting Commission.
The PSUV confirmation was convened by Chavez after his December 3
presidential victory, with the aim of join forces of 30 parties and
left-wing organizations supporting the socialist construction.
The last weekend registration of aspirants will take place in the states
of Apure, Barinas, Delta Amacuro, Falcon, Guarico, Merida, Monagas,
Nueva Esparta, Portuguesa, Sucre, Tachira, Trujillo, Vargas and Yaracuy.
